In recent years, FPGA’s integration is rapidly increasing, the logical resources are becoming richer, FPGA is usually used as a verification platform in chip design process, when verified at FPGA, then the chip can been manufactured. A DC inverter fan control chip was designed in this paper, which was used SOPC technology on a FPGA. DC inverter fan is an innovative technology of fans, which uses inverter technology for fan motor control, so it has various advantages, such as power, mute, variable speed, etc. DC inverter fan is a developing trend of fans. Designing DC inverter fan control chip can greatly reduce system cost and improve system performance, thus conducive to the promotion of DC inverter fans.In this article, vector control scheme was presented by analyzing the mathematical model of fan motor, and for the cost-sensitive features of DC inverter fan, used dual resistor for current sampling, and used hall sensor to detect speed and position. Firstly, according to the features of dual-loop vector control, divided the functions of hardware and software of the chip, for the inner current loop control, which requires a higher process speed use hardware IP core to achieve, and for the outer speed loop, which requires a relatively low process speed is implemented in software through Nios Ⅱ processor. Then custom IP core was designed by using Verilog HDL in QuartusⅡ software, such as cordic IP core, SVPWM IP core, Dual-resistor current sampling interface IP core, Hall sensor interface IP core, etc, and added to the IP library of SOPC Builder. Nios Ⅱ processor and custom IP core and some necessary IP cores were integrated by using bus interconnect, IP reuse and other SOPC technology. After static timing analysis, ensured timing closure, gave a low-power estimate, completed the hardware design. Finally, the software design was completed under NiosII EDS, and final achieved a DC inverter fan control chip.A DC inverter fan vector control system experiment platform was built in this paper at last. The speed control system test was completed in this platform, which verified the designed DC inverter fan control chip. Results show that the chip is working properly, the system is running well, the DC inverter fan control chip can well complete the system control functions.
