The Research On Application Of "Blank" Technique In Landscape Painting Of Ancient China In Garden Landscape Design

Because of the interactional relationship between the Chinese painting and the Chinese garden,many painting techniques were derived into traditional gardening art.As an important artistic tool and center link in Chinese painting,blank space has been fully used and embodied in the traditional garden. Wide application of blank space in other areas also shows that the traditional art means and the aesthetic way still have its value in the present art field.Moreover,in the contemporary landscape design,Chinese elements are losing and being symbolization,it drives us to search for a gardening technique to arouse the attention of Chinese traditional culture and traditional garden technology in landscape design.So, this thesis will focus on the "blank space".Through literature review research, interdisciplinary contrast, case studies and site visits and other methods, this thesis studies deeply on blank space from the perspective of landscape design.Looking the way of the blank space with cases embodied in Chinese Classical Gardens and Modern Garden,and put forward innovative the "quantitative blank" finally.Contents and conclusions of this thesis are as follows:1.Through studying the blank space in Chinese painting and Chinese painting techniques systematically found that the presence of blank is a very long history,and there are both subjective reasons and objective reasons, both psychological and physiological reasons for its existence.blank space in Chinese painting contains Chinese traditional culture aesthetics and philosophical connotation through the natural elements as embodied.For instance, "Yin and Yang" in the book of changes,the understanding of nature and the understanding of the relationship between nature and human from Laozhuang.These findings can be used as theoretical support research below.2.Based on the relationship between Chinese painting and Chinese garden, looking for the “blank space” in Chinese Classical Garden by analyzing the Humble Administrator’s Garden, Lion Grove Garden, the Nets Garden and other Chinese classical gardens.By summarizing and dividing the induction and classification of blank space in Chinese Classical Gardens,it can be found that blank technique was applied to the process of gardening inadvertently,which is reflected in the layout of the garden, the performance of the two-dimensional scene, the division of space and the creation of artistic conception.3.Along with the New Chinese Style Landscape, the Chinese elements and Chinese landscape appeared revival trend in modern gardens.By analyzing the New Suzhou Museum which is the representative works of New Chinese Style Landscape and inducing blank reflected in New Chinese Landscape found that is applied in the form coincides with the traditional garden.This shows that blank techniques used in the New Chinese Landscape can be used as a mean of inheritance for traditional aesthetics in Chinese Classical Garden.4.This paper put forward the "quantitative blank" as a concept innovatively by combining the blank space in Chinese landscape painting and the golden section.Golden section is an important theoretical basis for the quantify blank.Through this study we found that golden section is a digital, a calculation method, but also a means of mapping in mathematics.And golden section is also widely used in many artistic compositions and compositions,even in the Chinese traditional paintings.5.Take Chinese landscape painting as the object,studying on the feasibility of quantitative blank from two aspects of composition and proportion. In the composition, it can be simply understood as "Where is the blank?" that the "quantitative" impacts on bank. Geometrically analyzing different dynasties and different authors, different styles of painting, looking for contacts between golden section and the composition of Chinese landscape painting. Results showed that some landscape paintings do exist in the form of the composition of the golden section,and it shows that the composition according to the golden section were also in line with the aesthetic habits of the ancient Chinese painters.In the proportion,it can be simply understood as "How much is left out of the blank?" The average value of the gold is very close to the number of results By extracting the blank in a large number of landscape paintings,calculating the ratio of the blank in the paintings.Thus, it is feasible to constrain the blank on the amount with golden section.6.From the above analysis shows that Chinese landscape painting can guide the Chinese Garden. Based on the blank techniques in Chinese classical gardens and new Chinese landscape, quantitative blank is more applicable to modern landscape design which is both artistic and scientific. This thesis studies the application of quantitative space in modern landscape architecture from the composition of the plane, the composition of space, the use of color and so on in order to improve the controllability of visual aesthetic and meet the cultural features of the new Chinese garden.
