| The public space of China’s traditional settlement is an important part of thetraditional settlement’s overall environment. As a part of the settlement’s inner space,the public space’s venue is the extension to the private venue, containing the varioussocial life contexts as well as folk&customs activities of the residents in the settlement.Besides, the traditional settlement’s public venue is also the spatial carrier of traditionalintangible cultural heritage. With the development of traditional settlement’s socialeconomy, it brings the changes to the traditional settlement’s public activities as well asthe decline of traditional public venue along with the change of traditional settlement’spopulation structure and production&living.This study incorporates the planning, landscape disciplines&social studies, anddiscusses the internal and external mechanisms for the forming of traditional settlementsin Northern Guangxi as well as its public venue from multiple perspectives. Based onthe previous study of planning discipline and social discipline on the village publicspace, make classification for North Guangxi traditional settlement’s public space; get itdivided into physical space and emotional space as per " duality", and conduct a studyon the configuration and landscape elements of North Guangxi traditional settlement’spublic space. Based on above studies, summarize the emotional basis for the forming ofNorth Guangxi traditional settlement’s public space as well as the spatial featureexpressed. As per different nationalities and terrains, select two representative andrelatively intact North Guangxi villages as examples for detailed analysis to summarizethe generality of North Guangxi traditional settlement’s public space and analyze itsinternal differences. At last, through the summarization for the value of North Guangxi traditionalsettlement’s public space, work out the significance of the protection and developmentfor traditional settlement’s public space, make a summary and conclusion for the currentsituation and gain&loss of the protection&development in this region, and put forwardthe principles and strategies for protection and development. |
