Engine cylinder block is a typical box-type parts, The processing technology is matureand solidifying. The research of cylinder block processing on improving efficiency andreducing the cost has not been stopped. Previous studies mainly focused on improvingthe equipment and tool processing capacity, but on processing route is relatively less.This paper, based on the diesel engine cylinder liner parent bore machining process test,conducts the research to get the feasibility that cancellation of cylinder liner parent borehoning process. The traditional process for the cylinder liner parent bore is following:rough boring→semi-finish boring→finish boring→honing; when cancelled thecylinder liner parent bore honing processing becomes: rough boring→semi-finishboring→finish boring. The experimental results show that it’s feasible to boringwithout honing.The main work is as follows:First, based on introducing the equipment of cylinder liner parent bore processing in thenew production line, and comparing with the traditional production line of cylinderblock and the new production line, the idea to implement process change with newproduction lines is proposed.Then, through collecting and analysing for real data from the new cylinder productionline on both finish boring process and process, the feasibility of finish boring insteadhoning is validated.Third, a trial production using rough boring→semi-finish boring→finish boring processis implemented, and achieving the expected result, the processing samples complyingwith the design requirement.Finally, with cylinder liner parent bore not honing cylinder block sample assembledinto the engine, the bench test of the engine is done. The experimental results show thatthe performance meets the design requirements, the new processing route of roughboring→semi-finish boring→finish boring process is workable.
