The luffing jib tower crane (hereinafter referred to as the luffing jib tower crane) is themain hoisting machinery of the high or super high rise buildings. It’s a kind of frequentstarting, braking and has a complex coupling movement of the machinery, the system isusually affected by the vibration and shock, it prone to produce fatigue failure. Therefore,the dynamic performance of the luffing jib tower crane has a decisive role on the reliabilityand service life and is the key factor to measure the crane. At present, the dynamic analysisperformance of the luffing jib tower crane has become the essential content of the towercrane design.In this paper, the luffing jib tower crane is the research object, higher mechanism,mechanical vibration, multi rigid body dynamics, finite element method, national standardspecifications as the theoretical basis, using3D modeling software, the multi rigid bodydynamic software, finite element software as a research tool, the dynamic properties of theluffing jib tower crane are comprehensively analysis and simulated. The major results of theresearch are as follows:1. The paper established four quality four degree of freedom dynamic model of theluffing jib tower crane in accordance with fewer degrees of freedom model, oneexample was analyzed, the first four order natural frequency and displacementresponse curve of the system is obtained, the calculated results and finite elementanalysis results were close to each other, the calculation precision can meet thedesign requirement.2. Putting forward the idea of treating the cable as the elastic body to conduct thedynamic analysis and simulation research, the influence of elastic vibration and thewhole machine of the cable were accurately simulated, he influence of elasticvibration and the whole machine of the cable were accurately simulated, themeasure of the dynamic load coefficient is more close to the actual conditions, itprovides basic data for finite element analysis.3. The paper established the finite element analysis model and conducted the analysisof structural mechanics and the main force were obtained; through the modal andharmonic response analysis, it determined the impact of key modal frequency anddynamic performance of the luffing jib tower crane, and also determined theoptimal objective function of the luffing jib tower crane’s structure. The dynamictransient were analyzed on the working conditions of the sudden unloading andsteady rise, it provided reference for the analysis and optimization design offatigue life. The paper conducted a preliminary study on the dynamic performance and simulationof the luffing jib tower crane, the analysis theory and research method has a certainreference value to the design of the luffing jib tower crane, it has a certain referencesignificance to form a complete set of design theory.
