With the development of economic globalization and information globalization, the automotive industry also entered the track of globalization. In addition to facingmore severe cost pressures and diverse customer needs, the automotive industry butalso are confronted with organizational contradictions that are resulted fromcompetitions for resources during projects. Therefore, the automobile company’s corefocus has transferred from the traditional single project management to themulti-project management with the core of strategic co-ordination.This article introduces the concept of multi-project management and threemanagement modules. Then, it elaborates the five characteristics of multi-projectmanagement, core contents, organizational structure, and process management.Secondly, this article illustrates the process and methods of automobiledeveloping centered on the three transformation process of automobile production. The process goes from the original single assembly line approach to the flatbed carproduction with similar components and systems, then to the assembled " modular "production methods. In the flatbed car production, the basic concepts, strengths andweaknesses of platform strategy and architecture strategy will be elaborated, as wellas the from top to bottom relationship of architecture platform to the products, and theextension from the vehicle structure to the body structure. In the " modular "production approach, the history of its development and the high-efficiency,high-quality, diversity brought in the automotive industry will be mainly presented.Base on the architecture strategy, research the detail solution for key bodysub-systems and the body development quality control. Finally, this article will take a framework in our Company for example and applythe matrix management optimized for architecture approach into the five projectsconcerning architecture and body in terms of human resource management and timemanagement. Through matrix management, the functional department and project department can cooperate, which reducing the investment in human resources andtime consumption of development.
