With the rapid growth of vessel traffic flow and traffic flow characteristics ofincreasingly complex, the researches of vessel traffic flow have been getting into theera of big data, how to effectively collect traffic flow data, mine data and extract fromhuge amounts of data as well as how to apply the information to the maritime security/safety facilities layout and construction has increasingly become a subject is difficultto handle in the marine field. Therefore, it is necessary from the perspective ofmaritime administration, port scheduling department and ship’s point of view to buildthe traffic flow statistical analysis model objectively and comprehensively byanalyzing the macroscopic and microscopic features of massive ship traffic flow data.Moreover, develop the marine traffic statistical analysis system.This research made a research on vessel traffic flow characteristicscomprehensively and systemically by using the theory of system engineering andstatistics system. We developed a ship traffic flow statistical analysis system on thebasis of using VC and SQL language which adapt to the demand of maritimeauthorities, port scheduling departments and ship companies, and had a system testsfor each function of the system using the measured traffic flow data. The mainresearch contents include:Vessel traffic flow character model was constructed. By analyzing the ship trafficflow characteristic value and index macroscopically and microscopically, whichreflect the characteristics of ship traffic flow, and using the characteristics ofsystem theory, vessel traffic flow character model was constructed. The shipexpress/representation model of vessel traffic flow characteristics was set upthrough carrying out the questionnaire survey in the relevant maritime authorities,ports and ship management departments, which faces to the demand of maritimeadministration, port scheduling department and ship companies.The statistical analysis system of vessel traffic flow characteristics wasconstructed. By using VC and SQL language the statistical analysis system ofvessel traffic flow characteristics was constructed, which adapt to the maritimeauthorities, port scheduling departments and the ship companies. And the system is mainly divided into subsystems of maritime, port and shipping subsystem,which corresponds to the maritime authorities, port scheduling departments andthe different requirements of the vessel in turn. Each subsystem can accomplishthree checking functions: the query based on ship type, the statistical distributionof vessel traffic flow, the statistics of the rate of ship traffic flow. Statisticalresults can be graphical, all the results of statistical analysis can save and export.System test. Testing of each functional system using the traffic flow data ofTianjin port in2008, the test results show that the system has a friendly interface,stable operation, and can realize the functions expected overall design. I willfurther improve the system later.The research development of vessel traffic flow characteristics of statisticalanalysis system can effectively collect traffic flow data, mine data, extract fromhuge amounts of data consisting of vessel traffic flow characteristics, port berths,channel, anchorage planning and construction. it can provide basic data anddecision support and reference for ship navigation safety management, trafficorganization, navigation standards, optimizational route line.
