The new building of the bridges along the Yangtze River has brought economicprosperity to the cross-strait, but also has great impact on the navigation of the shipnear the bridge areas. More and more traffic flow, accidents occur near the bridgeareas. In order to strengthen the safety warning management about the Yangtze Riverbridges, ensure ship safety, prevention of water pollution, we should have researchand analysis on the vessel traffic characteristics of the bridge area.We study the characteristics of waterway near bridges, the bridge district fairwayrange, and use statistical methods to get a lot of cargo ship information, such as thetype, length, speed, distance between ships and other vessels transport properties. Wecollect the vessels sailing data about The Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge and The WuhuYangtze River Bridge. According to the statistical information, we give some fittinglines of distribution information about the length, the speed of cargo ship, the distancebetween ships, furthermore, we have some simulation trials on vessel traffic flowsimulation analysis, which can provide a reference for the other ship passes throughthe bridge area.The main contents of this paper include the following points:(1)By comparing various existing bridge area of the Yangtze River waterwayvessel traffic acquisition techniques and survey methods, we select LS-1radar tocollect the real-time vessel traffic flow which related to the vessels through the bridgewaters.(2)Establish vessel traffic flow data model, based on behavioral characteristicsof the ship, apply statistical methods study the data about the type, length, speed,distance between ships to obtain its distribution by histogram and curve fitting. Thechannel scale factor imbalance ship arrives, designed hour volume imbalancecoefficients and transport coefficients are also calculated for traffic flow.(3)Build the bridge area waterway vessel traffic flow simulation model, generateappropriate vessel models, including vessel traffic flows, shipping nodes, andgenerate appropriate waterway models, including waterways and navigation trajectory.We carry out some simulation experiments based on vessel traffic flow generation algorithm.According to those work, we could be aware of the basic regular of vessel trafficflow in the bridge area of the Yangtze River, and lay a foundation for the nextresearch, applications, and improvement.
