GIS substation is increasing with the development of the growing power market,because the long repair time and the technical difficulty of GIS equipment, theapplication research on GIS partial discharge on-line monitoring system have importantpractical significance.Firstly, the type and characteristics of GIS partial discharge as well as the currentGIS partial discharge monitoring techniques were analyzed and compared, thenaccording to the actual situation of Baoding grid, a partial discharge monitoring systembased on GIS ultra high frequency (UHF) technology is proposed to applicate in Baodingnetwork GIS partial discharge monitoring,. At lastthe hardware design and softwaredevelopment were completed. Based on the UHF GIS partial discharge on-linemonitoring system, UHF sensors are installed on a combination of electrical externalbasin insulator, electromagnetic signals inside the device collected by sensors aretransmitted to the monitoring systemby the signal cable, and to achieve communicationwith other equipment in substation via a network cable. The communication networkmay transmit data to the remote monitoring point, and then the collected data for GISmonitoring partial discharge were analyzed. Finally, the examples illustrated theeffectiveness of GIS partial discharge on-line monitoring system based on UHF. Theapplication of GIS partial discharge monitoring system based on UHF enhances thereliability of Baoding grid.
