GIS(Gas Insulation Switch)equipments are widely used in urban substations. In order to ensure the reliability of these equipments, online monitoring systems are required and among the current monitoring methods, partial discharge monitoring is regarded as a valid method and thus having received wide attention in the industry.In this essay, the typical partial discharge types in GIS equipments are analyzed and the current status of the technology is introduced, on the basis of which the design of a distributed online monitoring system is presented.The design of a distributed partial discharge online monitoring system used in GIS substations has been introduced in the essay, including the framework of the whole system. The system has adopted Ethernet as its communication solution after comparing the current communication solutions in the world. On this basis, the design of a communication protocol which is applicable in industrial controlling systems is introduced and a data sampling module is realized with this protocol, which contains the function of data sampling, data transmitting, controlling and use interface.At the end of the essay, two experiments are designed and executed to complete the verification and validation testing of the system. A systematical summary is made after the experiments and the future of the distributed online monitoring technology has also been discussed.
