With the improvement of the automation of marshalling station, the efficiency alsoincreases dramatically. Currently, the rough location of shunting locomotives is determinedby the track circuit in the semi-automatic marshalling yard, and by the shunting route that thelocomotives may pass through or the feedback of locomotives running route plans in theautomation marshalling yard. But both of them can’t accurately locate and track thelocomotives in real time. Real-time tracking of the location of shunting locomotives canprovide support for the scheduling decision makers to make more efficient shunting operationplans and also can improve the off-line operations and the ability to monitor the temporarycall locomotives. What’s more, real-time tracking of the location of shunting locomotives canprovide the distance between the shunting locomotives and the signal, which is good fordrivers to control the speed. Meanwhile, and helps the secondary peak plat uncoupling staff todecide the uncoupling position.According to the poor positioning accuracy of the marshalling shunting locomotive, akind of tracking and positioning system for shunting locomotive based on Zigbeecommunication is proposed in the dissertation. The positioning system can be accurate,reliable and real-time adjustment to provide the location coordinates of the marshalling yardlocomotives, routes, and combines the geographic information to appear on the map ofmarshalling yard to achieve positioning purposes.The system adopts modularizing design. Lower hardware devices include the coordinatornode, fixed node (routing node) and car collector node. The Altium Designer is made use forlower hardware design. The software adds power function based on the protocol stack sensordemo of Zigbee2006to realize the communication function of wireless networks. Thesoftware development environment uses the IAR Embedded Workbench and thecommunication equipment master chip adopts the CC253X chips. Lower computer transfersthe shunting locomotives location information to the SQL Server2005database and thelocation information was stored to complete the display of the locomotive location on the mapof the marshalling. Upper computer development environment uses Visual C++, programmedwith C++language.When calculating the position of shunting locomotives, in the traditional methods thatthe received signal strength indication (RSSI) is transmitted to the distance, the surroundingcommunication has so much influence on model parameters setting. In this dissertation, backpropagation (BP) neural network is used to fit RSSI with a nonlinear function of thetransmission distance. The simulation tests show that when using the intelligent algorithm to calculate position coordinates, positioning accuracy has been greatly improved, and thesimulation also has a higher universality.System debugging and laboratory test results verify that the location positioning errorcan be controlled within2m. The simulation test shows that relying on the changes of positioncoordinates shunting locomotives, with the shunting locomotives running position showed onthe map of geographic information station, the system can solve the practical problems moreperfectly and has certain practical value.
