In recent years, the railage develops towards faster, safer and more efficient, higher requirements for automation and security has been set on the hump marshalling yard process. More attention has been taken on the brake device used in tail of hump.Lots of research has been done for the car-stopper which used in the tail of the hump-marshalling yard by institutes of in-country or abroad. Many kinds of car-stopper have been invited and applied, such as hydraulic pressure drive style, pneumatospherem style and electronic drive style.Generally speaking, the control is still in a low level for its low reliability and high frequency maintenance.Sometimes the "iron shoe " is needed,which must be manipulated by the workers.It is too dangerous and inefficient to adopt this method. All of this has become an obstacle to the advancement of the hump marshalling yard automatization process.In this thesis, the car stopper control system is made up of by the PLC and the fieldbus of DeviceNet based on the characteristic of the car stopper and automatic shoe device.The Omron's PLC are used as the master node and slave node in the DeviceNet, the slave node is designed as a module, one slave node controls several railways, and the master node controls all the slave nodes in the net. The state and performance of the car stopper and automatic shoe device are detected and controlled by the automatic control system composed by the PLCs .sensors and other elements.Many functions have been realized in this system,such as vehicle position automatically detect, abnorm process alarm, malfunction estimation, malfunction management etc. One remote interface is designed on the master node, so the system can be manipulated in the cuddy on the tail of the hump marshalling yard.it also can be manipulated by the computer in the hump control room on the head of hump marshalling yard.The fieldbus of DeviceNet and PLC are designed as the control level to realize locale control, and the computer in the hump-control-room is designed as the management level to realize remote control and information management.This system is a typic mechatronic automatic control system, and ithas a practical significance for improving the automation level of hump operation process.
