Children belong to a special group of people, which is characterized by fast growth, rapid changes and high potential. Children are very different from adults both physically and psychologically. As the main carrier for child medical care, children’s hospital plays a extremely important role in the growth of the children, safeguarding their health.Nowadays, the quality of inner space is of growing importance in the design and usage of children’s hospital. Therefore, the research on the inner space of children’s hospital crosses more with other disciplines, especially with child psychology. The focus of the paper is on how to let designers and managers take the psychological characteristics and demand of children as users into consideration, and how to plan and design the inner space of children’s hospital effectively based on it.This paper falls into5parts. The first part proposes the research question and introduces the related background and information, including the research background and significance, literature review, the definition of the research target and research area, as well as the uniqueness and innovation of the paper.The second part introduces the theories on child psychology and children’s characteristics, making analyzes and conclusions. Based on research of child psychology and related theories on the design of inner space and buildings, the paper analyzes and concludes some principles and methods of inner space design of children’s hospital that caters to the characteristics of children.The third part proposes the solutions, and therefore is the essence of the paper. Based on the conclusions of the theories in the previous part, the third part analyzes the design of the layout, color, light and the selection of the materials in inner space. A survey on the comfort of the inner space of children’s hospital is also conducted targeting at children, who are the main users of the hospital. The author selects three children’s hospitals in Zhengzhou and conducts surveys, which involves the degree of comfort, the users and the demand on space. There are over500final effective questionnaires and they collect comprehensive data on the degree of comfort, users and the demand on space. Based on the data, the author conducts in-depth analysis on the characteristics of the samples in the above mentioned3perspectives.The fourth part contains the integrated design. In this part, the author firstly concludes the research in the previous3parts, and then proposes the5principles of the inner space design of children’s hospital, comply with the principles of child psychology particularity, Comply with the principles of spatial function and nature, Comply with the new requirements of the principles of medical model of, Emphasis on the principles of comfort and healing effect and each element of the principle of harmonization. Based on the principles, the author introduces how to apply child psychology in the practical level of inner space design in children’s hospital with the example of nursing unit.With growing attention on children’s medical environment, the research and the result of inner space design based on child psychology will definitely inject new concept into the improvement of inner space design in children’s hospital. |
