There are lots of social behavioral problems of children’s coursed by lack ofcommunicative behavior in their growth process, including poor communication, socialcommunicative retractility, communicative disorders, depression, mania, lack of responsibilityand so on.It is important for the whole society that all the children have a healthyenvironment to grow up. Communicative behavior is an important guarantee for bothchildren’s mental and physical health. However, the demands of children’s communication areoften ignored by the adults and the society.Generally speaking, children’s communicative behaviors always develop in the games. The urban children play space is the material basis of where the children can play games. Inthis thesis, we analyzed the communicative behaviors of children in the playing space anddiscuss the design principles and methods of urban children’s playing space, which can inducemore communicative behaviors of children, combining the theory of children’s psychology, the environment and spatial cognitive behavioral theory. This paper selected the urbanchildren’s playing space in residential places, parks and streets, which are classified study indetails. It summarizes the three main types of children’s playing space, combined withchildren’s communicative behavior analysis and researched on different spatial types. It is divided into the following four parts:The first chapter described the concepts of children’s psychology, child communicativebehaviors and urban children’s playing space, specific analyzed children’s psychological andbehavioral interactions. It classified the different communicative behaviors of different-agechildren’s, different steps of children’s communicative steps and different communicativemethods of children’s communication. Finally, it discussed the relationship betweenchildren’s behaviors and space related to the theories of spatial behaviors. The second chapter mainly analyzed the present situation and problems of children’scommunicative behaviors. It divided the different types of present children’s communicativebehaviors, which are parent-child interaction, peer interaction, teacher-student interaction andthe interaction between child and plants/animals. Meanwhile, it analyzed the presentsituations and problems of children’s playing space in which the communicative behaviorsmainly occurs. The third chapter analyzed the different types of urban children’s playing space, including the urban children’s playing space in residential places, parks and streets. Andspecific analyzed the children’s communicative time and methods of the3types.Chapter IV summarized and analyzed the elements which can induce children’scommunicative behaviors in children’s playing space, including spatial elements, environmental elements and facilities elements. It concludes the design principles andmethods of urban children’s playing space which can induce children’s communicativebehaviors. The design principles include the principle to meet the communication needs, theprinciple of edutainment, the principle of adaptability, the principles of interactivity, security, and sustainability. And the design methods include rational division of space and penetrationcapabilities, rich and diverse change the interface space, adding interesting and innovative andflexible use of natural elements and symbiosis, facilities sketch.
