In-Flight Simulators(IFS) is also called Variable Stability Aircraft(VSA).It iscapable of simulating other aircrafts’ flight characteristic in realistic environment,providing authentic visual environment and motion feeling. So it has much moreadvantage than other types’ aircrafts in the research of flying qualities, flight controltechnology and test pilot training.Our country’s research on the IFS is started in the eighties of last century. At presentthe IFSTA (In-Flight Simulator Test Airplane) is the only IFS of our country. It has theability of three dof of pitch, roll and yaw modeling, new type aircraft’s control lawverification, FBW (fly-by-wire)airplane’s flying qualities research and chief test pilottraining. However, present IFSTA does not have the ability of auto throttle function andhigh maneuvering lift characteristic, not to mention peculiar integrate avionics systemof the3th generation aircraft. Its maximum flight velocity is only700km/h.Based on above limitations, the IFSTA cannot meet the requirements of accuratetrack following and carrier landing flight technology study and test pilot training. Thispaper is based on the study of automatic throttle system control technology to expandthe function of the three dof variability system,the main research contents are asfollows:Analysis of the thrust’s influence on aircraft flying states, exploring automaticthrottle system in the direction of the application of IFS.Build total mathematical model, providing accurate and complete simulationenvironment for control law design.On the basis of model following principle, taking one airplane as an example,completed simulation study of different control methods based on three dofmodel following and auto throttle control law design, finally achieved autothrottle control through parameter adjusting and optimizing in the variablestability system.Based on the needs of our country’s aviation technology development, thispaper particularly studies on the Approach Power CompensatorSystem(APCS), analyzes and simulating the control technology of auto throttlesystem on the Carrier Landing. Therefore, this paper realizes the applicationexpanding of IFS.This research will directly support our country’s IFS development, and also have some promotion influence on the ACLS technology.
