With the raising of people’s living standard and the development of tourismindustry, many hotel buildings rise sheer from level ground like the mushrooms afterrain in our country, but more attentions have to be paid on the energy consumptionproblem that follow. In oder to keep up with the trend of four savings and oneenvironmental protection for green building during the12th Five-Year Plan periodin our country, as well as to realize both energy-saving and comfort, the airconditioning system of this kind of building should be optimal designed.Based on the project example, this thesis optimized the HVAC system design of a5-star hotel named Huayu in Changsha, and presented load calculation, selection ofair conditioning system forms, the determination of air processing scheme, selectionof cold and heat source scheme and design of transportation and distribution system.The result of annual hourly dynamic load calculation by DEST is favorable to theanalysis of the annual hourly load’s characteristics. The load characteristics provideguidance basis for the choice of air conditioning system forms and cold and heatsource scheme. Utilized building simulation software (DEST), a simulating analysiswas made for the satisfaction degree and economy of four air conditioning systemforms, obtaining a scheme with higher satisfaction degree and better economy. Basedon the simulating analysis for the energy consumption and economy of the mode offresh air control and heat recovery, a scheme with lower energy consumption andbetter economy was determined. Optimization design for cooling and heat sourcesincludes equipment selection, operation strategy analysis, analysis of energyconsumption and economy, etc. Then an optimal scheme of cooling and heat sourceswas determined by comparison. The optimization design of transportation anddistribution system includes the design of air system, water system and relevantautomatic control system. This paper presents some more suitable measures of energysaving for the transportation and distribution system.A few energy conservation measures are used in the design: VAV air conditionin gsystem with heat recovery is used in great space of the hotel, and primary air fancoilsystem is used in guestrooms; use variable fresh air system and make full use of thefresh air in transition season; the cold source chooses one water cooled centrifugalchiller and two water cooled screw chillers, take reasonable control of the running number of the chillers and pumps according to the variety regularity of the load; use avariable flow pump system to reduce the energy consumption of water system; setautomatic control device with centralized control and decentralized management toimprove the automatic management level.The research results of this thesis completely based on the project example, trulycombining theoretical research and practical engineering design. Although there aresome limitations, the research methods and results may provide design reference forthe optimization design of HVAC system of hotel buildings.
