This paper takes the air-conditioning VWV system as the research subject. And the influence of control strategy based on temperature difference or pressure difference on pipeline network characteristic curve and pump operating trend curve is analysed. Results show that the control method based on temperature defference is better than that on pressure defference from the point of energy conservation. Secondly, based on the control strategy of temperature defference, the impact of variable water volume in chilled water system and cooling water system on the performance of chiller is discussed, and the proper variation range of water volume is proposed, which assures the chiller's normal operation; meanwhile, the influence of variable chilled water volume on the cooling capacity of cooling coils and fan coils is analysed, and the maximum acceptable fluctuation range of chilled water is suggested, in order to maintain indoor thermal comfort. Finally, a hotel building in Shanghai is taken as an example to research the reasonability of above conclusions. Results show that the control strategy based on temperature defference is the best one for the air-conditioning VWV system of this kind of buildings.
