Study About The Comparison Of Kaifeng Iron Pagoda And Po Pagoda

The local commonly known as Po Pagoda and Iron pagoda were both pagodas that built in the Northern Song Dynasty. Po Pagoda formerly known as Xing ci Pagoda or Tianqing temple Pagoda, while Iron pagoda formerly known as "Kaibao temple pagoda" or "Youguo Temple Pagoda". In the strict sense, two Pagodas during the period of the northern song dynasty name should be used, but here, both the folk name of the two towers are used to distinguish. Shape and the internal structure of a larger difference, the two towers are covered with brick, which style also has its advantages. In this paper, a comparative analysis of these two pagodas is divided into three chapters, that is, the historical background of the Northern Song Dynasty Po Pagoda and the Iron pagoda, relatively complicated shape and decoration of Po Pagoda and the Iron pagoda, and their social connotations.The first section, from the perspective of macro-historical background of Po Pagoda and the Iron pagoda, analyzes the social environment and background of constructing two different shapes of pagoda. Focus on the source of their present names carried out research on the literature, In the Northern Song Dynasty, the Po Pagoda and the Iron pagoda’s the basic situation, location, etc. are described; This paper will analyze political, economic and cultural exchange environment of the two towers which were built at the beginning of that time. Preliminary sort of social backgrounds of two different stages of development, namely the policy to appease the early days of the Northern Song Dynasty and private funds, the basic unity of centralization and official supervision during Northern song dynasty unified basic stable period.The second section, a detailed comparison of shapes and decorative features of the two towers, this section is the focus of this article. Firstly, major comparative analysis of the two towers by shape, to further explore the source of its shape. Po Pagoda was originally Nine-story pagoda which height can reach73meters. However, the current three-tier tower is being remains after the "spade royal ghost" movement. The original tower shape can only be judged by speculation, and cannot draw basic shapes of its original pogoda, and its internal structure is more complex, the way of climbing the tower is very different from climbing the Iron Pogoda. Overall it has transition style of the Tang Dynasty pagoda to Song Dynasty pagoda. While the internal structure of the tower is single and pervasive, climbing the pogoda around the tower stem,the top of the pogoda has only two parts, since the orb shape on the top of the Pogoda was common to the Five Dynasty, the overall style was changed with the times, basically influenced by Chinese culture.Secondly, by comparing respectively art style of the Buddhas on bricks and the plant decorative patterns, learn more about its builders and funders who tend to the starting point and beliefs.
