Decoration,as one of the oldest forms of art,is a special practical activity of human beings as well as an aesthetic way for humans to highlight their life and spiritual world.With a deeper perception to life and object,humans’ decoration awareness becomes active from passive.At the same time,it focuses on comprehensiveness(perfect combination of functions and aesthetics or emphasizing decoration or appreciation)from originally emphasizing on applicability.It displays the orderly beauty of all lives,boasts man’s creative and flexible aesthetic wisdom and represents decoration art’s important role in promoting the development of human civilization.From the concept,characteristics,development history and application of decoration art,we can see that the decorativeness of decoration is the internal character and special nature of people’s decorative awareness and behaviors.This design practice focuses on decorativeness.Based on the art image symbol system,it recreates the objects by adopting two decorative forms-decorative relief and decorative murals to decorate and beautify public space.The combination of two decorative forms not only fully reflects the aesthetic objects,but also enriches and improves the artistic atmosphere and decorative feeling of the public space and environment.Thereby,it satisfies the author’s visual f’eelings visual experiences and aesthetic needs.Decorative relief is a way of expression of decorative art.It makes the decorated subject is beautified while meeting functional requirements.In the decorative art design of public space,to outstand its decorative characteristics,realize the visual effect of beautify indoor spatial environment,highlight the surroundings and enhance the visual effect of indoor space,it will arouse visitors’ sense of identity of the indoor spatial environment.Thereby,it can satisfy all audiences’ needs for venue experience and generate a strong sense of belonging to the museum.Decorative relief,as one form of visual art,creates images with its unique artistic language,thereby meeting man’s material and spiritual needs.At the same time,due to its "decorativeness",it makes the decorative world more colorful and plentiful.Visual communication enjoys the priority in venue creation.The decorative relief design in public space visualizes the spirit of the place.The creator creates the meaningful venue and analyses it with the symbol configuration and venue structure.With the premise of a sense of identity to the environment,it requires the author to have a clear understanding on the spatial structure of the venue(internal space of the museum),thereby satisfying venue experience of audience.The practice is a decorative art design of Zhangjiajie Geological Museum,which aims to spread the geological and cultural connotations of Zhang Jiajie.It presents the unique natural geographical landscape in the visual art form of decorative relief.In the design process,since the artistic creation takes“national objects" as the aesthetic object,the author finds and adopts configuration principle and design methods to avoid the pure natural imitation.After the design process of’"observation and analysis(structure,material and processing method)-configuration(form and configuration)-re-express(creative reproduction)",it demonstrates the structural configuration of natural materials.With a comprehensive,multi-angle way to observe and analyze surrounding objects.Moreover,through consideration on configuration,the author develops a keen sense of perception and improves form cognitive abilities to identify the unique structural characteristics of things.Creative observation is realized from various angles by changing the perspective of observation.With the help of imagination,more configuration elements are identified,with new artistic forms generated during the process of studying configuration changes.Therefore,the creator’s works focus on more profound aspects.In other words,except the natural objects,the works demonstrate independence,thereby making relief murals get rid of pure naturalism and becomes a true artistic form.This paper studies the decorative relied murals,which is a new interpretation of decorative art design creative practice.The practice takes the naturally beautiful geological landscape as the representation object.At the same time,abstract artistic form is applied to decorative art of public space,thereby expecting to provide constructive practice case of reference significance and value to public decorative art creation.
