Green building must be adapted to the local climate, cultural history andbuildingmaterials. That is the true green building. Therefore, in order to be true green building,we must takethe differences in different areas and different climate conditions intoaccount. Based on thedistinctive natural environment, social culture, economicenvironment,and institutional factors of West Straits Economic Zone, this thesis willidentify and supervisethe risk factors of green building project in West StraitsEconomic Zone, which is of great practical significance.Firstly, this thesis analyzes the current development situation of the green buildingin the West Straits Economic Zone, divides the risk factorsWest Straits condition,project condition and project participants’condition according to three levels, i.e.“Macro”,“Middle” and “Micro”, and identifies43risk factors. West Straits conditionincludes5sub-factors, i.e. natural environment, social culture, economical factors,institutional factors and technology supports, and18risk factorsare identified. Projectcondition consists of three sub-factors, i.e. green construction, contract managementand management factors, and9risk factorsare identified.Projectparticipants’condition covers5sub-factors, i.e. proprietor, designer, constructionparty, supervisor party and operator, and16risk factorsare identified. Based on theabove risk factors, this thesis establishes the risk list of green building project in theWest Straits Economic Zone.Secondly, through questionnaires, experts’ and scholars’ viewsaboutrisks’occurrence rates and damage degrees of the green building project arecollected. SPSS is adopted to analyze the collected questionnaires and identify theriskfactors with the top15occurrence rates and damage degrees. Then, the data isanalyzed with the use of factor analysis approach and8common factors which canrepresent the43risk factors are extracted: natural environment, socialculture,macro-environment of West Straits Economic Zone’s, green construction andgreen management, proprietor’s decisions and operation, designer’s and operator’s abilities, construction party’s and supervisor’s abilities.According to the extracted8common factors and West Straits Economic Zone’scondition, this thesis proposes several safety precautions. Finally, a two-star greenbuilding project is involved as the object of the study, the risk factors of the existedrisk factorsare analyzed, and specificmanagement suggestions for the risk factors ofthis green building projectare put forward. This case better supports the theoreticalstudy in this thesisandgains some valuable research findings.
