This paper aims to study the cross passage interval of bigger single-hole highwaytunnel.Starting from the relationgship of personnel escape in tunnel fire and cross passageinterval, summarizing the difference between single cavity traffic tunnels andone-way traffic highway tunnel in personnel escape in tunnel fire. To profits from thepredecessor, research approach and research results, to identify suitable research methods andtechniques for single highway tunnel.Being in view of the present situation and insufficiencyof research scholars at home and abroad, to improve the research methods, finally toconclude the reasonable recommendation of bigger single highway tunnel in crosspassage interval.First, to analyze several existing criterion of staff escape in tunnel fire, summarizeconflict of the mathematical model with the reality of the situation, and to amend themathematical model, at the same time to regard it as the basis of personnel escapediscrimination in this article.Secondly, to establish the geometry model of a single highway tunnel, analyze thevariation of temperature field and smoke field by using the fluid dynamics softwarePHOENICS to simulate tunnel fire.Thirdly, the calculation of personnel escape probability of failure by using Monte Carloin various conditions is based on the foregoing findings and the result of the randomsimulation test. Finally, based on risk assessment guidelines and the relationship between personnelescape probability of failure from escape distance, to get the relationship between escapedistance and the levels of risk, which is the basis of the value range of the crosspassage interval.
