Of all the Guangfu villages, Xiaozhou village is the most typical one with features of water town in the south of the five ridges district. The traditional residence there has unique regional characteristics and high historical value. The rapid development of urbanism and culturalcreative industry has made the Xiaozhou village facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities. Therefore, there is one urgent problem yet to be solved for the traditional residence: how to improve the living conditions for the local resident and make the most economic value ofthe folk houses on the basis of keeping the original feature so that they can survive and revivein the high-speed developing metropolis.Based on the above research background, this essay chooses Xiaozhou village as the research object.
