Development And Utilization Of City Lowland

In recent years, Urban land resources is extremely tense during the rapidurbanization in China. How to make better use of the limited land resources,especially the city lowlands that with little value for many reasons is the most concernpart for every urban landscape architect. However most of the city lowlands are inirregular shape and in cracks of the city with following bad characters, Low-lying,perennial stagnant water, exceeding of heavy metal contents and the breeding of theflies. Renovation and utilization of the city lowlands is a tough work for us.In this paper, taking Beigaomiao Eco-garden, Changzi County in Shanxi province asan example, with author’s perspective. The status of the utilization of city lowland isanalyzed from the beginning of the planning of the Eco-garden. During theconstruction of the project we solved many difficulties and we mainly discussed theoverall planning and implementation process, the solutions for the difficulties wefaced and many practical experience of lowland renovation.Finally, suggestions for city lowland utilization and transformation in China afterfinishing the Eco-garden project in Changzi county is summarized and concluded, theauthor hopes that his work would play a positive role in the development andutilization of lowland in China in the future.
