As the largest coal export port in the worldwide currently, Qinhuangdao Port mainly uses cantilever bucket wheel reclaimer to do loading operation. Bucket-wheel reclaimer is the key operation in the process of coal shipment. Therefore, the bucket-wheel reclaimer working efficiency can directly affect the working efficiency of the whole process. This paper aims to explore an effective reclaimer operation way to realize the maximum efficiency of the automatic control of the amount of material of reclaimer.In this paper, we first introduce the mechanical structure of bucket-wheel reclaimer and its components, and then propose a reclaiming operation mode, which is a kind of improved bucket-wheel reclaimer operation method, that is, to keep the amount of instantaneous material a constant value. On this basis, this paper introduces the automatic closed-loop control method, constructs the PID closed-loop feedback control system which keeps the amount of instantaneous material invariant.Then, we design the control system with programmable controller as well as electrical principle of the bucket wheel reclaimer, introduces hardware components and the selection of models, their functions and their properties were also explained. In addition, this paper transfers point cloud data captured by laser scanning into 3D visualization model, which provides a good technical support for the operation of reclaimer.Next, this paper uses Siemens S7-400 PLC as the core component of the control system, rotary system based on variable frequency drive as the implementation, to make the bucket-wheel reclaimer do the piling operation through controlling the speed of cantilever rotary, at the same time, we combine the instantaneous picking amount of conveying belt detected by belt weigher in real time with the instant data of bucket-wheel driving motor as the real-time feedback data in the process of operation. This paper uses the least square method to do curve fitting of the real-time data, so as to realize the intelligent control of the amount of instantaneous material, thus constructs the bucket-wheel reclaimer automatic control operation system based on fieldbus.At last, this paper explains the system running environment and general configuration of PC, the communication configuration between PLC and computers. we also design the operation interface of terminal software, which describes the working state of the system’s normal operation and the concrete functions intuitively.This system mentioned above is functioning in Hebei port group Qinhuangdao port Limited by Share Ltd sixth port branch in trial, during the trial operation of the system, the efficiency of material fetching operation has been greatly improved, the overload operation caused by man-made factors greatly reduces, and the reclaimer realizes the automatic control of the amount of material.
