Environmental pollution has affected people’s lives, in order to accurately assess the extent of environmental pollution components and contaminants, measuring instruments need to use to quantify the concentration of pollutants, thus the environmental monitor was born. The main function is to monitor the environment in real-time for acquisition and recording environmental data, and generate environmental pollution index report, provide data support for policy-makers, which in the field of environmental monitoring is widely used.Environmental monitors has been used more widely in the field of environmental protecting, but due to the lack of industrial design, as well as enterprises pay less attention to product design, lead to poorly designed, uncomfortable to use, the design does not match the ergonomic principles. Product development is not user-centered, lack of research to users, resulting in poor product experience, and not convenient in operation and maintenance. Lack of design has lead to serious product homogeneity. Environmental monitor is a modern high-tech precision instruments, but its products are incompatible with the image of modern precision instruments, causing the product on the market is not acceptable to the customer.This project aims at using the theory of industrial design to optimization the appearance design of environmental monitoring instrument. After reaching the environmental monitoring instrument and its users, combined with the company’s design requirement, to analysis the problems of environmental monitoring instrument, gives solutions to these problems.Using the method of modularization design, man-machine engineering theory, design theory, to reach the environmental monitoring instrument. Using the method of product modularization design to plan the module partition of the environmental monitoring instrument to enhance ease of use and comfort, improve the environment monitor experience. Using the theory of ergonomics to improve the design of environmental monitoring instrument to make the operation more comfortable, reduce operating load, reducing misuse rate.Using modeling design theory to optimize the appearance of the environmental monitoring instrument, solve the problem of homogenization, to establish a high-tech precision instruments product image.Through in-depth study of user operational habits, optimize the environment monitor operational processes, and improve operator comfort. Combined with ergonomics theory, materials science, psychology and behavioral science, considering the feasibility of material processing, ease of maintenance, user-friendly and other factors to expand the research of this project.Finally, complete the design of environmental monitoring instrument, the project is a project of Shanghai Chuangta Electronic Technology Co., Using modular design and ergonomics theory to optimize the functional area and make it more convenient to use and more easy for daily maintenance.
