UHMWPE fiber is a high performance fiber, it application prospect is very broad.This paper uses a new process for the production ofmaking the fiber, namely melt spinning method. This method avoids dissolving extraction process of the gel spinning method, greatly reducing the cost of production, more conducive to large-scale production. This production lineis divided into two parts, frontspinningand after spinning.Front spinning production linemainly consists of extruder, melt pump, mold,seven rollers pre-drawing machine and closing wire rack.To ensure the safe operation of the front spinningproduction line, to avoid accidents and improve efficiency of production lines as well as economic benefits, we need design a safe and reliablemechanical safety systems for the production line.Firstly,this article analyzes the equipment and technology of the production line, finds out the risks in the material, equipment and environment etc of the production line equipment and technology, uses the safety evaluation method such as the fault affectingand risk analysis method to evaluates the production line,to the possible accident probability and the degree of danger of accident of the production line.According to the result of safety evaluation,design the safety protection for the equipment of the production line.Design the extruder emergency system,design the seven rollers pre-drawing machine safety guards, design the pressure alarm safety interlock system using B & R Automation Studio software and model 4PP420 1043-B5 PCC controller, and design the extruder and melt pump interlock protection system.Finally, analyze the reliability using the method of reliability prediction for the design of safety protection system and pressure ala safety interlock system, calculate the system failure probability, and take measures to improve the system design, improve the reliability of system, to ensure the safety and availability of the safety system.According to the safety evaluation the safety design of production line,improved the level of safe operation of the system,reduced the equipment failures and dangerous occurrences in the process of the production.It is great significance to the protection of personal and property safety, and improve production efficiency.
