As a modern processing method, NC machining technology will directly affect the quality and efficiency of the product in multi axis NC machining process if occurrence of collision happens. For this reason, the identification and collision checking method of NC machine tool parts was focused on in this paper. The collision checking software of NC machine parts was developed based on the Rhinoceros platform by using C++ programming language. The collision checking method of NC machine tools was realized by software programming. Then the correctness and rationality of this method were verified by the collision checking of simplified NC machine model and impeller test. The research contents are as follows:The geometric data of NC machine tool parts were obtained by measuring and model drawing, and the specialized fixture was designed, then the 3D solid models of NC machine parts, cutting tool, fixture, and the assembly model of NC machine were built. The method on how to assign number to parts was presented in Rhinoceros.The motion transformation method of NC machine parts was presented, the input method was presented in Rhinoceros environment and a collision checking and analysis method for NC machine tools was proposed. The corresponding software was developed based on C++ programming language and the collision checking of NC machine parts was realized.By using the developed collision checking software, the collision of the five axis NC machining of impeller was simulated and checked. Based on which the NC machining experiments were completed. The results of the experiments showed that the collision checking method and the developed software were effective.
