Tibetan paper technology belongs to the first intangible cultural heritage project of our country, being the one of the best Chinese traditional culture and the symbols of Tibetan culture. In the past for a long time, Tibetan paper technology is in danger. However, the Tibetans try their best to protect this technology. Now with Tibetan paper technology being on list of intangible cultural heritage items, folklore specialists and volunteers begin to think about the protection and development of Tibetan paper technology.Protection of productivity is good for intangible cultural heritage, especially it is difficult that some intangible cultural heritage tend to marketization. Protection of productivity provides reasonable ideas and methods of protection, combined of folklore, industrial economics and so on.Different from other kinds of protection, protection of productivity emphasizesproductivity, which means protection of productivity can help intangible cultural heritage back to life and promote their self-development. When we are protecting intangible cultural heritage, we must find the characteristics of intangible cultural heritage about culture, ethnology and traditional handicrafts. At the same time, we also need to think how to bring intangible cultural heritage to market and solve some problems about technology and theory.Protection of productivity doesn’t apply to all intangible cultural heritage, but it’s suited to the protection of Tibetan paper technology luckily. The article begins with history of Tibetan paper technology, then expounds its importance and particularity after describing technological process. By combing production situation of Tibetan paper, the article will find shortcomings and come up with suggestion.
