The Technological Study On Special ABS Resin For Auto Dashboards Epidermis

Special ABS resin for auto dashboards epidermis is a kind of ABS resin of special brand, which has comprehensive performance index and high technology content, and specially used for producing PVC/ABS alloy. the melt strength of blends increased after PVC resin was blended with ABS resin. In addition, this kind of ABS resin is applied in preparing dashboards epidermis of low-standard cars, medium-sized cars and trucks to increase the mould release ability and the pattern retention ability of epidermis materials in the molding process.Through cooperation with Changchun University of technology, the project team has developed special ABS resin for auto dashboards epidermis by the seeded-emulsion polymerization technology. The team determined the optimal test recipe and process conditions by Bench tests and optimized tests; completed pilot scale test studies of polymerization, grafting polymerization, and agglomeration; It was observed the relationship between monomer conversion and reaction time, heat release rate and the relationship between mixing speed and latex particle size and distribution in the polymerization process; The effect of different mixing proportions of particle size PBL on the performance of ABS resin was studied,and the effect of mixing rotate speed and the volume of TDDM, FES on the reaction in the grafting polymerization process was also studied; by using the recipe of pilot scale test, developed stable products, which has past the testing by authority (Changchun institute of applied chemistry and Plastic testing center of Jilin Province), and met the contract requirements. The project team has done the heat resistance test of Blends of the pilot scale test products and PVC/plasticizer, and the result showed that this kind of products improved the heat resistance and the sizing ability of PVC/plasticizer soft materials, and the effectiveness is better than Blendex-131 products made from GE Company.The project team found it is feasible to synthesize the special ABS resin for auto dashboards epidermis by particle size synergy principle. It was obtained that engineering amplification data about the emulsion polymerization, grafted polymerization and agglomeration process and it provides design basis for the industrialization by the pilot scale test.
