Salvia can be used for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, also can be used for cancer, AIDS. The root of salvia miltiorrhiza bunge, also known as "Danshen" in Chinese, has been widely used in Asia since ancient times for treatment of human ailments. Commonly, it acts as an effective herbal medicine to treat angiogenesis-and haemostasis-related diseases such as atherosclerosis, thromboembolism and angina.(1) Purification of Tanshinone IIA by modified resins. In this paper, kinds of macroporous resins with different polarities and pore sizes were used to determine the static adsorption and desorption experiments of tanshinone IIA. Langmuir and Frendlich isotherms were used to describe the interactions between solutes and resins at 25℃. Adsorption kinetics curve was obtained, and Langmuir equation showed that resin's adsorption of tanshinone IIA is mainly monolayer adsorption. Ultimately HPD-100 resin was chosen for dynamic adsorption experiments. The HPD-100 macroporous resin showed good separation efficiency when the load concentration of Tanshinone IIA was 0.81 mg/mL,the max load volume was 120 mL with the flow rate lmL/min,and 5 BV(Bed Volume) 80% ethanol was used for desorption with desorption-flow 1mL/min. Under this conditions,the recovery of Tanshinone IIA was above 80%, and the purity increased from 15% to 42%.(2) Microwave-assisted extraction of ru-kuai-xiao using the high efficient continuous dynamic countercurrent pilot-scale extraction machine. Ru-kuai-xiao was extracted by using a high efficient continuous dynamic countercurrent pilot-scale extraction machine, which can safely run for a long time without break safely. Ru-kuai-xiao water extract and ethanol extract prepared according to conventional technology and its laboratory-scale test were tested by using the HPLC fingerprint chromatogram method. The results showed that when the process for water extract and ethanol extract were carrying out with power of 39 kW and solid/liquid ratio 1:14 under 85℃for 14 min, and with power of 39 kW and solid/liquid ratio 1:8,7℃for 4 min, respectively, the main common peaks area were within the range.(3) Microwave-assisted extraction of Tanshinone IIA using a high efficient continuous dynamic countercurrent pilot-scale extraction machine from the residue of Salvia miltiorrhiza bunge. Tanshinone IIA was extracted by using a high efficient continuous dynamic countercurrent pilot-scale extraction machine from the residue of Salvia miltiorrhiza bunge. The optimum condition was obtained:under the microwave power 39 kW, the solid/liquid ratios 1:9 (g/mL) with 80% ethanol (v/v) at 70℃for 4 min. The yield of tanshinone IIA was 0.68%.
