Research Of Relationship Between State-owned Enterprises Social Responsibility And Corporate Performance

In the condition of our China’s socialist market economy, state-owned economycan not only be able to play state-owned economy’s general functions of making upfor market failure in other countries market economy, but also can reflect the socialistnature, maintain control and play a leading role in key industries and areas, this isalso one of the essential differences between the functions of China’s state-ownedeconomy and the functions of state-owned economy in other market economy. Thefunctional orientation of China’s state-owned economy also determines China’sstate-owned enterprises should bear social responsibility to realize the functions ofthe state-owned economy. State-owned enterprises as the eldest son of the Republic,the implementation of the state-owned economic function, should not only need toundertake the general social responsibility of other corporate, but also need toundertake special corporate social responsibility. The fulfillment of theseresponsibilities not only enhance the strength of the state-owned enterprises, but alsohelp the development of the entire public economy, has an important role inpromoting a harmonious socialist society and achieving the great rejuvenation of theChinese nation.First of all, after studying on the social responsibility of state-owned enterprisesand elaborating the major theories on Enterprise performance theory at home andabroad, suming up the relationship of corporate social responsibility and corporateperformance, then come up with the three line theory, stakeholder theory,"four inone" model, which are the oretical basis theory of this paper.Secondly, complaining about the social responsibility status and problems of the performance of state-owned enterprises in China. We find three points of problemswhich are the mechanism of social responsibility of state-owned enterprise is notbalanced, some state-owned enterprises can not fulfill the social responsibility all thetime, the mechanism which state-owned enterprises play the leading role of the socialresponsibility is unsound and so on.Thirdly, analysising the effect of enterprise performance if the state-ownedenterprises undertaking liability management responsibility, market responsibility,social responsibility and environmental, from the view of transaction cost theory,economies of scale theory, the principal-agent theory,synergistic effect theory. At thesame time, discussesing the influence of state-owned enterprise performance oncorporate social responsibility. Accounting to these theories, I set out two premiseassumptions, one of them is that state-owned enterprises fulfilling their socialresponsibility will promote the improvement of enterprise performance.the other oneis that improving the corporate performance can promote enterprises to better fulfilltheir social responsibilities.Finally,the part of empirical analysis is to demonstrate that Chinese state-ownedenterprises which fulfill social responsibility can promote economicvalue,accordingly contributing to improve business performance. The increasingprofits of state-owned enterprises can provide economic protection for enterprises tofulfill social responsibility.Chinese state-owned enterprises are the main marketplayers, and its basic feature is to pursue profit maximization.The operator ofstate-owned enterprises should be aimed at enterprises benefits and enhance corporatevalue.At the same time,as an important implementor of state-owned economicfunctions, state-owned enterprises should bear a special social responsibility decidedby the state-owned economy special social functions.Therefore, in the pursuit ofcorporate profits, the state-owned enterprises should bear social responsibilityinitiatively, which in turn can improve business performance. At the end of this paper, I put forward some policies from the perspective of business, government and societyrespectively.
