Development and consolidation of Farmers Specialized Cooperative in ethnic areasare of great vitality in coping with Three Rural (agriculture, countryside and peasant)issues. With relevant laws and regulations being improved, they are forging ahead ontheir way towards maturity. However, they are still in infancy owing to underdevelopedlocal economy of ethnic areas. Constructing competent supply chain will enhance theirrole as a hub linking peasant household production and market demand. Thus, a study ofsupply chain construction for farmers cooperative would provide a reference for ruraleconomy development in ethnic areas.This paper, taking Mountain Vegetables Cooperative in Enshi Tujia and MiaoAutonomous Prefecture as an example, studies the significance of constructing supplychain for Farmers Cooperative in ethnic areas, and explores how the chain could bestructured and optimized.Firstly, it employs a SWOT analysis to depict a general picture of virtualconditions in Enshi for supply chain construction, from the four aspects of strength,weakness, opportunity and threaten. Secondly, in a case study of Sanhong VegetablesSpecialized Cooperative, it analyzes the specific process of value-adding and theunderlying driving force at different levels of the chain. Then, this paper applies theAHP method(analytic hierarchy process) to create Evaluation Index System for PeasantHousehold and Evaluation Index System for Farmers Cooperative,aiming at analyzingthe existing problems, and confirming the necessity of supply chain construction.Finally, the paper suggests a way to improve the supply chain for Mountain VegetablesCooperative in Enshi, five proposed methods included: improving the awareness ofsupply chain management, optimizing logistics system of the supply chain, supportingFarmers Specialized Cooperative, prioritizing cooperative and perfecting supply chainmodel.
