Poyang Lake is the largest freshwater lake in China, Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone since established by the national approval, becomes the strongest comprehensive strength and development potential in jiangxi province’s. The region also has a good condition to develop the ecological economy, to promote the coordinated development of ecology and economy. However, along with the process of urbanization and rapid economic development, the impact on the ecological environment has become increasingly prominent in the Poyang Lake region. Based on this background, author has carried on the empirical research for urban ecological environment&economic development in Poyang Lake Area. The study include:①Authors established the comprehensive appraisement index system of resources&environment quality and urban economic development level, used principal component weight method and fuzzy subjection function method to evaluate the quality of ecological environment and urban economic development in6cities which are Nanchang, Jingdezhen, Jiujiang, Xinyu, Yingtan and Fuzhou in Poyang Lake Area, gave a computational model of the ecological environment and economic development and coupled coordinated development of type divided accordingly.②The method of ecological footprint was used to measure the ecological footprint of the six cities in Poyang Lake Area from1991to2010years. Then using ecological footprint as the elements of ecological resources and labor and capital together as the input elements analyses the inner contribution of economic growth. Besides, the author researched the relationship between economy growth rates and the growth rate of total factor productivity. The results show that:It was a big difference of the harmonious development degree between resources&environment and urban economy in those6cities in the10years. Nanchang belonged to the type with well-harmonious development but lagging-back ecological environment. Xinyu belonged to the type with barely-harmonious development and lagging-back ecological environment. Jingdezhen belonged to the type with primary-harmonious development but lagging-back ecological environment. Jiujiang belonged to the type with barely-harmonious development and lagging-back economy. Yingtan belonged to the type with barely-harmonious development but synchronization of ecological and economy. Fuzhou belonged to the type with economic-loss and moderately-uncoordinated decline. The ecological footprint has upward trend year by year. There are present the regional differences about ecological resources, labor and capital factor contribution to the economic growth. Nanchang, Xinyu, and Yingtan are capital-oriented, capital have great influence on the economy growth rate. While, Jingdezhen, Jiujiang, Fuzhou are labor-oriented, labor have great contribution to economy growth rate. The ecological resource contribution rate is in the final, which means the ecological resource using efficiency is too low. Total factor growth rate for the level of economic development has played a key role, but the overall level of total factor growth rate are low in the Poyang Lake region, indicating that the technical content of the Poyang Lake Area’s economic growth is too low, the use of elements are extensive, which is not conducive to the requirements of the regional economy long-term rapid development. Three industries have different effects on the ecological footprint, the primary industry has the greatest impact on the ecological footprint but the third industry has the least impact on that. Thus, vigorously develop the tertiary industry will effectively control the growth of the ecological footprint.
