Study On The Development Of Potato Industry In Shangluo City Under The Background Of Staple Food

Main Grain Conversion of potato strategy was put on the agenda of the state in 2015.In 2016,the state issued the guidelines on promoting potato industry development,making potato the fourth largest food crop in China after rice,wheat and corn.Potato has the advantages of wide range of growth and adaptation,short cycle,high yield and rich nutrition,etc.The development of potato industry is particularly important for China with more people and less land to promote rural economic development and ensure national food security.Based on a large number of literature review,this study analyzed the current situation of potato industry development in Shangluo City under the background of staple food industry by questionnaire and SWOT method,and proposed the basic ideas,goals and countermeasures for promoting the potato industry and staple food development in Shangluo City in the next 10 years.Over years,Shangluo City has a significant advantage in planting potato resources.As of 2018,the planting area has reached 43000 ha,the output is 135900 tons,and the output value is nearly 795 million yuan.Compared with other crops,planting potatoes increased income significantly,and became the leading industry for poverty-stricken households in Shangluo city.The advantages of planting potatoes in Shangluo are:the establishment of seed potato breeding system in 2005 has formed a complete industrial chain of seed potato breeding;superior production conditions,natural ecological environment and suitable climate conditions;advantages of quality recognition,good quality and rich in various nutrients;obvious economic benefits,higher income than other crops and high recognition of the masses.The opportunities for Shangluo to develop potatoes are as follows:with the advancement of main grain production,potato support policies at all levels have been issued one after another,the demand potential of the external market is great,and the value-added space of deep processing is large.There are still some problems in potato industry of Shangluo City,such as single variety type,unreasonable structure,backward production mode,poor storage capacity and conditions,short industrial chain,and imperfect marketing system,which restrict the healthy development of the industry and hinder the development process of potato industry of Shangluo city.The disadvantages of planting potatoes in Shangluo are:less deep-processing enterprises lead to less varieties of potatoes with higher added value;the local market is small,and potato storage mainly relies on Farmers’ own soil cellars,and the storage facilities are backward.The threat of planting potatoes in Shangluo is:in recent years,under the stimulation of various policies,the potato industry in many surrounding areas has been homogenized,leading to intensified competition;the land is scattered,and the price of agricultural machinery is relatively high,leading to slow progress in the promotion of machinery.In view of the existing problems,it is suggested that the development of potato industry in Shangluo city should be analyzed from three aspects:policy,production link and enterprise participation,and the existing problems of the main grain of potato should be analyzed one by one,combining with the links of planting,processing,storage,transportation and sales,so as to consolidate the advantages,make up the shortcomings,and let the potato further assume the main grain status.
