Application Research On Domain Knowledge Representation And Search Based On Ontology In New Product Development

During the information age when the competition in the market economics becomes extremely fierce, the New Product Development (NPD) capability reflects the core competition of the enterprise. The enterprise must innovate constantly to survive in the market. The new NPD domain is the domain that needs knowledge most in the enterprise, so it is useful to improve the efficiency of NPD and develop high quality product meeting the needs of the market quickly through the application of Knowledge Management (KM).Knowledge Representation (KR) and Knowledge Search (KS) are the key stages during the application of KM in the NPD domain. Taking effective methods of KR and KS can help knowledge diffusion, sharing and reuse. The Ontology in Artificial Intelligence filed defines the common concepts and relationships in a certain domain. It is not only in favor of the knowledge sharing and reuse, but also useful to knowledge reasoning and innovation.This paper firstly introduces the relative theories of NPD, KM and Ontology. It mainly introduces a variety of KR methods and KS methods, and then, compares some ontology construction methods and ontology-based knowledge search methods. All above provide the theoretical basis for this research.Secondly, ontology-based knowledge representation in NPD is studied. This part firstly analyzes the role of ontology in the knowledge sharing and reuse in NPD domain. Then, according to the character of the NPD domain, it applies the process theory and prototype theory to the ontology construction in NPD and puts forward a process-oriented NPD domain ontology construction methodology. This part also discusses the relationship between the ontology and knowledge base and analyzes the construction of knowledge base in NPD domain. Thirdly, an ontology-based NPD domain knowledge search model is studied in this part. Based on the analysis of the knowledge base structure in NPD domain, it puts forward a NPD knowledge search model and explains the function of each part. It also studies the application of Vector Space Model in the knowledge search model.At last, this paper takes the application research on the new mobile phone development field. It designs an ontology-based new mobile phone development knowledge search system, and verifies the feasibility and validity of the process-oriented NPD domain ontology construction methodology and the ontology-based NPD domain knowledge search model.
