With the rapid development of Reverse Engineering and its application, modern Reverse Engineering, especially in the surface reconstruction aspect, has been widely applied in Automobile industry, Aircraft industry, and Mechanical industry and consumable Electronic industry. Surface reconstruction is a core and major purpose of Reverse Engineering, and is the basis of the further CAD processes, RP, RT, CAE and CAM. The traditional method is used more far-ranging and the corresponding software is developed more perfectly. Meanwhile, the triangulation method for point-clouds is developing very fast. Therefore, we do study on different kinds of products and Reverse Engineering CAD softwares to get Fuzzy synthetical evaluation system of surface reconstruction methods.In this paper we have accomplished:(1) By gathering the information of experts’questionnaire, we got the classification from the surface characteristic and surface precision. Lots of products are classified into CAS(Class A surface),CBS and CCS;(2) With Fuzzy synthetical evaluation theory and the consideration on the evaluation factors (Fairness&Precision, Time efficiency and Complicated surface management), we assess out Fuzzy synthetical evaluation matrix for different surface reconstruction software by Expert system.(3) And we set up Fuzzy synthetical evaluation system of surface reconstruction methods.(4) When this system is applied, we need assessment for the evaluation factors from experts to get corresponding weight set for applied product and get Fuzzy synthetical evaluation matrix result by calculation.(5) Lastly, we get certain and optimized surface reconstruction method and software. With some tests in practical designs, we got a content outcome.Based on the theory and application of surface reconstruction in Reverse Engineering points, in this paper we classified the geometric characteristics of various kinds of products and compared the characteristics, processes, advantages and the applied range of different surface reconstruction methods and the corresponding software. Then we set up Fuzzy synthetical evaluation system of surface reconstruction methods and applied in the CAD remodeling design of diverse products.
