With the development of high-speed optical fiber communication technology,optical fiber communication problems in the process of transmission is also more and more,due to polarization effects caused by the polarization dependent loss and polarization mode dispersion effect on optical fiber transmission system is more and more inevitable. As a result of the existence of polarization effect, lead to signal fluctuations, such as noise amplitude and waveform distortion problem. The polarization effect of optical fiber communication system are mainly polarization dependent loss(PDL)、polarization mode dispersion(PMD)、polarization dependent gain(PDG)、polarization related modulation, polarization sensitivity, etc. To test the polarization dependent loss has become an important optical device performance indicators.Polarization dependent loss tests need to control the input state of polarization, polarization controller can realize the function. The sign of polarization dependent loss test of polarization controller is not mature.There are two main types of the polarization dependent loss test:the polarization scan method、Muller matrix method.The polarization controller control method has become a big difficulty. This paper is to research indications for above problems system the control principle of optical fiber squeezer, and making use of the polarization of the controller is designed for the experiment and research, The main research is as follows:(1) Elaborated the polarization dependent loss test method, and has made the analysis on two methods.(2) Muller method was studied for the polarization dependent loss test.(3) This paper expounds the development of different polarization controller and the control principle of polarized light., selected for the experiment of polarization controller in this paper.(4) Studied the polarization controller of electric control technology.(5) As the test is obtained by experimental analysis and the longer the polarization dependent loss value more accurate.
