With the development of society and improvement of living standard,people’s lifetime has been prolonged constantly and social aging process hasbeen accelerated gradually. Elders’ health monitoring in daily life, especiallyduring night when sudden diseases have a higher morbidity, has become animportant research topic. Meanwhile, in today’s society, people’s lifestyle hasbeen affected more and more obviously by technology, such as the widely usingof WiFi, Bluetooth and some other wireless technologies, which improved entireliving standard significantly. The application of these techniques in turnpromotes the further development of wireless technology. Wireless sensornetwork, which is the combination of sensor technology and wireless technology,becomes a hotspot in wireless field these days. With the development of wirelesssensor technology and the rise of requirements to relevant applications, ZigBeecomes into people’s vision. ZigBee technology, which has the characteristics oflow power consumption, low rate, low complexity and strong anti-jamming,provides a feasible solution to telemedicine. The main work of this paper issummarized below.(1)The general design of the sleeping monitoring system is raised. Basedon the analysis of current development of telemedicine around the world, themonitoring scheme combined with training subsystem and monitoring subsystemis proposed. User’s physiological data is obtained by training subsystem andprovided to monitoring subsystem as a targeted threshold value. User ismonitored in real-time by monitoring subsystem using the targeted thresholdvalue in daily sleeping.(2)The hardware circuit of sleeping monitoring system is designed.According to the functional requirements of sleeping monitoring system, therequired chips are selected. LPC2103chip is taken as the wristband terminalprocessor. CC2430chip is used as the carrier of ZigBee network. Pulseacquisition circuit, temperature collection circuit, data storage circuit, wireless transceiver circuit and some other circuits are contained in terminal nodes. Thecircuit of routing node and gateway node are also given.(3)The software of sleeping monitoring system is designed. Theembedded and PC programming software are introduced. The software ofterminal node and coordinator node in training subsystem are given. The designprocess of terminal node, routing node and coordinator node in monitoringsubsystem are also provided. The PC program is shown at last.(4)In a laboratory environment, the system is integrated simulation.Training subsystem and monitoring subsystem are integrated from all the partsabove. Temperature and pulse information collected by user’s terminal, will besent to the coordinator through CC2430wireless directly, and then to thecomputer via a serial port to achieve the information collection from user.Collected data is displayed and analyzed by PC meanwhile a threshold value isprovided to the monitoring subsystem. Using the threshold value obtained fromthe training subsystem, user is being real-time monitoring through the wristbandsterminal. Only when abnormal situation occurs, warning-signal would be sent bywristbands terminal. After routing nodes forward, the warning-signal isultimately transferred to the host computer through the coordinator. At the sametime, physiological data would be stored by data storage circuit in wristbandsterminal based on occurrence of abnormal situation. Data storage circuit providesbasis information for the doctor’s diagnosing.LPC2103chip is used to analyze collected information and ZigBee networkis only used to send warning-signal, which successfully reduces the powerconsumption during system operation and improves the practicability of thesystem. The combination of training subsystem and monitoring subsystem makesthe monitoring system more targeted. Through analyzing various routingalgorithms, the advantages of Cluster-tree and AODVjr routing algorithm arecombined, which ensures the timeliness and reliability of warning-signaltransmission. During the operation of monitoring system, the process of sleepingis monitored, and warning-signal will be sending out only when abnormalsituation happens. The whole process will not impact the user’s sleeping, whichmakes the system practicable in residential area, nursing homes or other suitable environment to give real-time monitoring to elders. This paper is an explorationof the telemedicine.
