Recently, with social developing and life quality improving, people take more and more care in health care in real time, flexibility, intelligence, humanity, etc. People need better health care system. Many enhanced health care systems which based on information technology, network technology and electronic technology appeared and developed fast. In 21st century, mobile communication technology and sensor technology matures. This injected new vitality into health care system's development. People began to pay attention to remote medical systems based on wireless sensor network technology.Considering the limitation of traditional health care system and development requirement in current medical system, a new generation health care system, named remote telemedicine monitoring system based on wireless sensor networks, is established by taking the advantage of wireless sensor network in traditional health care system. Compare to traditional health care system, remote telemedicine monitoring system based on wireless sensor networks breaks the limitations in time and space, greatly optimizes the function, enhances the performance in real-time, flexibility, intelligence and humanity. It is an excellent health care system integrated remote monitoring, remote diagnose and information management.Remote telemedicine monitoring system based on wireless sensor networks constitute of three parts, body area network, local gateway and monitor center. Body area network is a wireless network constituted of the micro-nodes, which is responsible for sensor and gather patient's physiological parameters. Gateway is the middle bridge of local area network and monitor center. It undertakes protocol conversion and message transfer. Monitor Center is divided into three parts, agent platform, diagnostic platform and information management platform. Agent platform deals with request from remote end and give a response. Diagnostic platform provides doctors for an interface to diagnose patients'physical condition. Information management platform takes charge of many kinds of system information.In this thesis, the principles and characteristics of sensor is analyzed, software architecture and hardware architecture of wireless sensor network is described, and the network protocol stack and the process of buildup is illustrated. On this basis, the goal of this system is established, and relative function requirements and system design are present. Besides, many questions of implementation are discussed in detail, including interaction among body area network, local gateway and monitor center, protocol conversion. Implementation of some important modules is introduced, including the conversion problem of physiological parameters, intelligent parameter evaluation, images of physiological parameters. Then the thesis test and analyze the performance of the system. In the end of this thesis, the correlative work is summarized, some defects are pointed out, and future work is given.
