Recently, Xinjiang has become the frontier of counter-terrorist and anti-separatism struggles. In face of complex, subtle and modern situations, the current counter-terrorist divisions have accomplished data sharing in a large scale and also formed an effective cooperation strategy. However, there is no universal handheld terminal as equipment for individual combating. In order to take advantage of micro-computing, wireless transmission and GPS technologies, we design and implement a prototype of embedded database for a digital, automatic and integrated professional handheld terminal for police usage. This implementation is carried out based on the weakness-analysis of traditional ways of scouting and treating terrorists. This paper first analyzes current achievements and features of embedded system and database researches, and then chooses appropriate methods to integrate hardware and software including embedded database. At last it indicates a possible way of system design of the professional handheld terminal for police usage. In this design, we integrated ARM9 S3C2410, open source Linux and SQLite to fulfill the transplanting of embedded OS and corresponding database onto a handheld hardware environment. The architecture of the embedded database is also designed according to certain requirements.During a strict test, this design shows strong capability of synchronizing data between embedded database and central database, either by real-time data accessing while connected or by local cache reading and updating while offline. The professional handheld terminal for police usage is an applied implementation of modern information science and technology, and benefits so much in flexibility and mobility. We believe that it will support the counter-terrorist divisions in information sharing and efficiency improving in field operations. |
