With the rapid development of the information society, the mass media to guidepublic opinion int he functioning of legal cases reported in the increasingly importantrole that it has played a crucial role in the progress of the case concerned,to promote fairand transparent aspects of the case, but because Chinese law also lacks a special "presslaw",as well as journalists themselves appear in the actual operation problems, make themass media over public opinion to guide function is extended to "public trial."This article aims to analyze the mass media reflect public opinion, public opinionguidance to illustrate the function of the mass media and public opinion to guidefunction " public trial " relationship. This paper is divided into three sections: First, theintroduction questions. The first chapter of the "media trial" phenomenon defines theconcept, analysis of a " media trial " reasons. The second chapter of the mass media toguide public opinion and " public trial " for the discrimination to " Tian a case"illustrates the two different but related, that " public trial" is a misunderstanding of thefunction of the mass media to guide public opinion, guide public opinion can influencepublic opinion, but not the same as " public trial"; author analyzes the mass media andpublic opinion to guide the positive effects and the negative effects.
