Nowadays, the development of the communication network tends to be wireless and broadband. With the increasing diversity of access terminals, smartphone, PDA, laptop and other mobile devices becoming popular, require the communication network be more and more wireless. At the same time, with the development of the network, the improvement of the life quality, different people have different requirements in the network service; the type of service is also becoming diverse. Therefore, it needs more bandwidth to support the diverse services. While the copper network has been widely used, with the increasing demand of the bandwidth, copper network cannot meet the needs of the development of the next generation network. Fortunately, the optical fiber has many advantages, such as high bandwidth, low price, transmission without interference, etc. So the optical fiber is the first choice of the next generation network transmission medium, and is gradually replacing copper as the transmission medium of next generation network. Meanwhile, in order to meet the wireless terminal devices to the flexibility access, the combination of the wireless network and the optical fiber is the inevitable direction of the next generation network.This thesis surveys the fusion status of network development and the future network development trends, analysis of the types, multiple services and development of access network under the multiple services. The multiple services, nowadays, is becoming from the basic voice service to the data services, image services, multimedia services, etc. The access network is becoming from the copper access to the fiber access. At the same time, in order to meet the needs of mobile devices access, wireless access network is developing steadily, the operators are developing the mobile communication from the second generation to the third generation, even the fourth generation. WLAN is also gradually developing in the station, airport, large shopping malls and other personnel intensive areas such as CMCC and other access points. Combine the wireless network with the optical fiber, is the RoF technology. Then introduces the basic concepts and characteristics of RoF system, and analyses the key technology of the implementation of RoF Technology, including optical signal modulation, optical signal demodulation, and optical signal dispersion management during transmitting in the fiber. Still, according to the background and the development trend of RoF, introduces the applications of the RoF technology and its future development.The next, combines with the project in the period of graduate, has designed a RoF hardware system carrying Zigbee and WiFi wireless standard. The frequency of Zigbee and WiFi wireless standard is2.4GHz, is a free open band, no need to apply and for fee. WiFi is one of the most widely used wireless access standards, its fastest speed can reach54Mb/s, can basically meet the use of the family and the small networks. Zigbee, a wireless standard, with low rate, low power consumption, is suitable for small data occasions, and has been widely used in intelligent Home Furnishing system. The paper has designed the power supply circuit, the optical modulation circuit, and the optical demodulator circuit. Also, according to the Time Division Duplexing, has designed the control circuit. Explain the main reasons about selecting the important components.At last, through the above analysis and design, combine with the development trend of multiple services, in order to meet the users’ different needs of different services, consider about taking RoF system as the main framework, designed a RF-Fiber Fusion network. The design combined the wireless standards with the optical access network EPON which commonly used now, for supporting the multiply services. In order to reflect the supporting of the multiply services, taking the hot services including data service and VOD service, using the software visual studio2010to write code. Design the corresponding user interface, and rich users’ experience. Let the users experience the convenience of the RoF technology brings.
