With the rapid development of network management, the scale of network management is getting larger and larger and the interoperability becomes more and more important. In order to meet the increasing needs of network management scale and management services, it is necessary to provide more flexible and extensible interfaces of network management systems, so that good usability and interoperability with other systems can be achieved. Meanwhile, it is also expected that the interface should be easy to implement, low-cost to manage. For the various existing network management systems in heterogeneous environment, in order to keep the current functions, architectures and implementation techniques unchanged as much as possible, it requires some technologies to promote the cooperation of these systems so that they can form a logical unit to provide higher level management applications. Web Services can easily encapsulate these existing management functions (services), and mask the different techniques used in these systems. So, using Web Services in network management systems can construct a logical unified architecture to provide management services more freely.By now, Web services have been widely studied and already introduced or to be introduced by standardization organizations on network management and they are also applied in the interfaces of some network management systems. But so far there is no Web Services-based network management framework to provide theoretical guidance to define Web Services-based network resource models and interfaces, it is necessary to establish such a standardized framework. This thesis referred to the ITU-T CORBA-based network management framework, and proposed a framework for Web Services-based network management interface definitions and supporting services. This framework provides some basic guidelines on how to apply Web Services in network management interfaces. This thesis focused on the constitution of Web Services-based network management framework, the definition of network resource models in XML Schema, generic accessing method, common services and management supporting services. Besides, this thesis also gave verification results to prove the feasibility of the network management framework. Considering the current status of the application of Web Services in network management, the Web Services-based network management framework can provide guidelines to design network management interfaces and network resource models, and the generic management supporting services can also improve the standardization and reusability of some common management functions.
