A phenomenon that patients and their families have been burdened by dyskinesia and physical handicaps caused by cerebral diseases like brain injury, apoplexy has been frequently appearing. A restoration therapy proved to be contributive and meaningful by massive medical research is the normative, long-term hand rehabilitation training method. However, traditional rehabilitation systems have performed poorly due to its inflated cost, monotonous process, etc., associate with the regulatory negligence of the medical institutions; have initiated the severe degeneration or even total motor function loss to the patients. Thus, a brand new system overcomes all the defects above is needy and indispensable.This paper has provided a valid solution to the dilemmas that current systems are not capable enough to handle with the5following facets.(1)A tiny, portable data glove developed in this paper can easily conduct the precise hand motion data acquisition.(2)A combination of the data glove and a self-developed virtual reality system can simply provide the sense of reality and immersion.(3)Specific designed rehabilitation games will bring more attraction to the restoration process.(4)An integration of the system and the network technology can solve problems like the surplus of patients, the insufficiency of medical resources, and the difficulty of real-time observation of patients at home for doctors by providing an online communication between doctors and patients.(5)Network and database technology can work well on the persistence and analysis of patients’ restoration data.The brand new home rehabilitation system provided in this paper is powered by technologies of gravity sensor, Zigbee wireless transmission, virtual reality, Web Service and hand model motion algorithm, and comprises4sub-systems of data acquisition system, local user system, net terminal system and remote client service system. The integration of4sub-systems provides functions of patients information management, rehabilitation process planning, motion data analysis, virtual reality interaction, restoration data statistics and patient-to-doctor communication, and implements the overall management of patients data storage, analysis and process for the rehabilitation training.
