With the continuous development of optical fiber communication technology, the applications of optical fiber communication continue to expanded, optical fiber communication technology has become a very important pillar of modern communication. Simulation software of optical fiber communication system based on point to point transmission is a experiment software that can be used in school of optical fiber communications curriculum, but also a supporting software tool used to design fiber optical communications systems related engineering and technical personnel.In this thesis, on the basis of the working principle and the key technology of optical fiber communication system are in-depth studied and researched, the design of optical fiber communication simulation system based on point to point transmission is proposed to apply Visual C++6.0and Matlab software tools. The simulation system mainly includes three major modules: light sending part, optical fiber channel and light receiving part. According to the light source modulation characteristics and technical parameters and coding rules of various kinds of optical fiber line, the design comes up with simulation module of optical transmitter; based on features of the optical fiber loss and dispersion, the gain characteristics of optical fiber amplifier and fiber optical connectors and other technical parameters, optical fiber channel model is established; in accordance with photoelectric conversion efficiency and other performance parameters of optical detector and fiber-optic decoding methods, the design gives out the optical receiver simulation module; employing Visual C++language ADO interface technology, the database was set up to store various kinds of optical fiber and optical device technology parameters. This design employs Visual C++6.0software tool to design man-machine interface simulation system. Part of the mathematical formula for computing and each point of signal waveform graph functions use Matlab software to make designs and take the way of calling Matlab engine to establish connection with VC. After the completion of the simulation system design, we test a huge amount of data of the whole simulation system and analyze the data of the simulation test results.The simulation results show that: the simulation system can make it easy to select various types of optical fiber and optical devices, call and display performance parameters through the database, and directly enter the various performance parameters of the optical fiber and optical devices according to the need. We can intuitively understand the signal waveform at various points through the optical fiber communication system, in particular the change of optical signal waveform under the influence of fiber dispersion and fiber loss. All in all, the simulation system can correctly realize the function of each module, and make man-machine interface design reasonable.
