With the development of science technology, virtual reality technique has got into people’s daily lives before we know it. Virtual Assembly and Disassembly Training (VADT) is one of important technical branches that could teach the processes of assembling and disassembling the product with human-computer interaction tool in virtual environment. Its application in education and training is an important approach to popularize virtual reality. Traditional training method features teachers training student face to face, using textbooks and visual aids such as PowerPoint slides and videos. Due to the limitation of space, equipment and other resources, independent practice, interaction and repeated operation are far from sufficient in the process of such training. Introducing virtual reality technology to education and training could allow students to choose knowledge in virtual reality system, to watch teaching videos multi-angle and full-view and to interact with the virtual environment using hardware devices such as data glove and position tracker, thus enabling students to simulate operations on real equipment by operating the virtual model repeatedly.This paper, with an introduction of the application of virtual reality technique to education and training, analyzes developmental barriers and difficulties of traditional education and training and clarifies the necessity of applying virtual reality technology to education and training. Meanwhile, on the basis of theoretical study of the concept of virtual reality, virtual training and virtual assembly and disassembly training, it focuses on the theoretical knowledge and practical method of virtual assembly and disassembly training based on data glove, designs and implements the virtual computer mainframe assembly and disassembly training system according to the computer mainframe assembly and disassembly experiment in university course Principles of Computer Composition. Base on theoretical study and practical experience, this paper thus summarizes five rules of the design of virtual training system.
