In recent years, along with the iPhone, iPad, and XBOX360, Sony PS3and otherentertainment products’ selling success, there is a growing emphasis on human-computerinteraction experience design. Due to the rapid development of Micro Electro MechanicalSystem (MEMS), the price of MEMS sensor is becoming cheaper and cheaper. And thisgood factor will further promote human-computer interaction experience design of thehome electrical devices.In this technical background wave, the paper uses a new human-computer interactionmethod for the electronic pointer used in the PPT presentation occasion. And we willdiscuss the design of the overall program. This paper will carried out the researching anddesigning work from the following aspects.First, we will investigate the electronic pointers provided in the common market tofind out what features do they have and analysis how they achieve these functions, andthen point out their shortcomings.This paper proposed using MEMS motion sensors toimprove the human-computer interaction experience of the electronic pointer;Second, we will discuss the kinetic characteristics of the human body gestures, whichincluding the angular velocity and acceleration distribution in all directions within thethree-dimensional. By doing the appropriate analysis we will further propose the controlmethod based on angular velocity and acceleration;Third, data preprocessing and recognition algorithms of the gesture recognitiontechnology are studied, which are the most important technologies in the area. Datapreprocessing includes data cutting, data filtering, data normalization and so on;Recognition algorithm has the two different type algorithms. One is the recognitionalgorithm which has training and learning feature based on hidden Markov models and theother one is the algorithm based on threshold which has no training and learning feature. Fourth, a detailed analysis of the actual demand for electronic pointer when used in thePPT presentation occasions will be given. And on this basis detailed design works for theelectronic pointer’s hardware and software systems will be carried out. We also doexperiments to test functions of the electronic pointer designed in the paper. And last, wegot a good result.The innovation of this paper is the use of new MEMS motion sensors instead of thelaser pointer used in the traditional design work. And this will allow users to control thePPT presentation process only by the electronic pointer in their hands conveniently andeffectively.
