Elevator has become an important symbol of Modernization. With the increase ofhigh buildings, the number of the elevator has been rapidly increased. At the same time, the safety and cost of the elevator have been more and more concerned by the users andelevator manufacturers. Elevator Remote Monitoring System means that the elevator’smanager can use the communication technique to remotely monitor and control theelevator in some place, detect the running data of the elevator in time. With the analysisand judgment of that data, remotely maintain the elevator in use, analyze and solve themalfunction. What’s more, with the analysis and judgment, we can also make thediagnosis and exclusion of the problem in the early time. This article is mainly for the research and design of the elevator remote monitoringsystem which is based on CAN and Ethernet communication. Firstly, analyze thedevelopment and status of the elevator remote monitoring system, proposed and designedthe general structure of the elevator remote monitoring system. Through the comparisonof some different microchips, choose the right chip which is fit for this design. Secondly,on the basis of the ability of the whole system, we used the software Altium Designer todesign the hardware platform and completed the software system with the language c onthe MDK and the LabWindows/CVI integrated development environment. Finally, withthe completion of all the software and hardware modules, debugged and analyzed thewhole system, solved problems and improved the software system constantly. The whole elevator remote monitoring system consisted of the data collectionterminal (the slave), the data transport network and the remote monitoring platform (themaster). The slave is used for collecting the elevator’s data and sending the processeddata to the master. The hardware design of the whole system is same to the hardware design of the slave. It is divided into4parts. First, the microprocessor modules, we usedthe microchip LM3S8962which is designed by the TI Company. This chip uses thekernel of ARM CORTEX_M3, it has integrated the CAN controller and the Ethernetcontroller. Second, the power module, include the5V circuit of switching power supplyand3.3V linear power supply circuit. Third, the CAN communication module which isdesigned based on the CAN high-speed transceiver TJA1050. Fourth, the Ethernetinterface module. Data transmission network uses the Ethernet communication, themaster design is based on the human-computer interface design of the LabWindows/CVI.
