Since1969, the concept of radio frequency identification technology has been proposed for over a decade. After several decades of developments, radio frequency identification systems have been achieved remarkable results in theoretical research and practical applications. RFID technology is an advanced automatic identification and data capture technique, it is known as one of the ten key technologies of the21st century. With the improvement of the reliability and availability of RFID technology, RFID technology has become an essential techniques and tools to improve logistics and management level, improve public safety management level, and it also has broad application prospects in manufacturing, public safety and other areas.The basic principle of radio frequency identification is through the non-contact IC card reader and non-contact IC card to communicate with each other by electromagnetic coupling to identify information and process data. RFID technology have characteristics with the storage space, the reader distance, long life, fast speed and high security card reader and soFirstly, we make a brief introduction about the system of non-contact IC card and contactless IC card reader, and explain its work principle and related RF basics. We explain the knowledge from the introduction of non-contact IC card reader consisting of to the principles of non-contact IC card reader analysis, and make analysis to a wide range of readers on the market and make a comparison, it is benefit for the subsequent design a modular, compact, low-cost embedded non-contact versatility IC card and lay a solid theoretical foundation.From the perspective of engineering applications, general-purpose non-contact IC card reader hardware circuits were designed such as RF modules each module, the controller module, antenna, communication interfaces. We should take the low-cost and performance requirements into consideration when make a choice with the universal contactless reader components. In general, the non-contact type IC card reader is a structure with a modular design and miniaturization, it is compact module structure for embedding in a reasonable and optimized hardware layout. Considering the universal, contactless IC card reader communications interface design is to consider the performance of a novel universal serial communication and USB communication combined approach and eventually get practice and application.From the perspective of security applications, we designed a new type of reader application security encryption method for general-purpose non-contact IC card reader which uses a triple authentication mechanism. Application using the card reader and a microprocessor chip identification number uniquely bound, it effectively prevents the illegal downloading and illegal upgrade program, and to protect the security of the reader application.Finally, we make a test for the non-contact type IC universal card reader for the performance and functions, and design a visual interface through VC++in PC, it can verify the integrity and functional performance of the reader sex by the agreed communication protocol command.
