Data acquisition is an important part of the manufacturing execution system (MES). It provides accurate, real-time data of the workshop that allows MES to control the production status for enterprises. Utilizing these data, MES will provide many optimizations for enterprises, such as building the right production plan, effectively guiding the operation process of production in the factory, improving the material flow rate, and increasing the operation efficiency and delivery accuracy of the equipment.Furthermore, with the development of manufacturing enterprise informatisation, MES develops a growing dependence on data acquisition. More and more functions like production scheduling and shop floor controlling require real-time data collection as foundation for processing, causing the traditional data acquisition system, which is currently running, to become unreliable and obsolete. Other problems such as the aging of the terminal, small amount of the data output of the network, unfriendly user-interface and complex development of the new businesses affect the efficiency of traditional data acquisition system, and further, the accuracy of the MES.The emergence of the mobile Internet brings high-speed mobile network and smart terminal devices which can access high-speed networks for data interaction. High-speed mobile network can provide high-speed, high quality wireless network resources for the workshop. Applications based on smart devices can be used for real-time data collection in the workshop and provide real-time data processing and feedback. The emergence of mobile technology creates a new route for optimization for MES data acquisition method in the workshop.This thesis discusses data acquisition system based on MES workshop as the researching background, analyzes the running status and existing problems of data acquisition system in the workshop, as well as the need for the development of the data acquisition system using android devices and Wi-Fi wireless networks in order to reconstruct and optimize the traditional data collection method and system. In addition, this thesis focuses on building a system which is based on the programming structure of the B/S structure combining with C/S structure and the two layer event processing mechanism on Android tablet equipped the NFC module.Lastly, because of the similar needs and requirements between the metalworking training workshop and discrete manufacturing enterprise’s workshop, this thesis build a data acquisition system based on Android using the metalworking training workshop as the background. The experimental results tell us that the system meets the needs of the data acquisition in workshop and reaches the target of optimization such as making the system easy for use and developing new business, increasing the reliability and accuracy of the data in the system and so on.
